Replacing lamps (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W123)

Front side marker lights



1. Open the rear cover of the headlight unit.

2. Remove the lamp holder, press on the bulb, turn it and remove the lamp.

Turn signal lamp



1. Loosen the knurled nut in the engine compartment, release the turn signal lamp from the headlight brackets and remove the turn signal lamp.

2. Pull out the lamp holder or turn it to remove it, then press and turn the lamp bulb to remove it.

Rear light unit (models with a sedan body)



1. Loosen the knurled nuts in the trunk and remove the combination base with lamps.

2. To remove the desired lamp, press and turn it.

Rear light unit (station wagon models)



1. Loosen the nuts securing the rear light in the trunk, press the light unit back, release it from the body, then unscrew the nuts and remove the bulbs.

2. Release the foot and remove the base with lamps.

3. To remove the lamp, press it and turn it.

License plate light



1. Open the trunk lid or tailgate, loosen the screws and take out the lamp base.

2. Remove the bulb with the cylindrical bulb from the spring clamps.



Interior light



1. Carefully remove the lampshade from the trim panel.

2. Remove the bulb with the cylindrical bulb from the spring clamps.

Luggage compartment light



1. Open the trunk lid and remove the bulb with the cylindrical bulb from the spring clips.

Glove compartment light



1. Open the lampshade at the top of the glove compartment and remove the bulb with the cylindrical bulb from the spring clips.

Hazard warning light switch lamp



1. Remove the hazard warning switch from the center console and disconnect the multi-pin connector.

2. Turn the lamp holder a quarter turn and remove it from the switch, then press the bulb of the lamp, turn it and remove it.

Heater control knob illumination bulbs



1. Remove the heater control knobs, remove the knob lighting bulbs from the sockets in the center.

2. Remove the air intake flap control handle, unscrew the nuts and remove the control panel cover.

3. Remove the lamp holders and take the lamps out of them.

Ashtray Lighting Lamp



1. Remove the ashtray, unscrew the two screws and remove the top cover.

2. Remove the lamp holder and take the lamp out of it.

Instrument cluster lighting lamps



1. Remove the instrument cluster.

2. Turn the bulb holder a quarter turn and remove it from the rear of the instrument cluster.

Gear selector lever illumination lamp (models with automatic transmission)



1. Remove the selector lever frame.

2. Remove the lamp holder and take the lamp out of it.
