Stop the vehicle on firm, level ground as far as possible, keeping the vehicle out of the way.
Turn on the alarm if necessary.
If available, put up a warning triangle to alert other drivers to your presence.
Apply the parking brake and engage first gear or reverse gear (or "PARK" on models with automatic transmission).
Place a pair of large stones diagonally opposite to the one being replaced under the wheels.
If the vehicle is on soft ground, place a hardwood board under the sole of the jack.
1. The spare wheel and tools are stored in the luggage compartment. Raise the mat, then remove the bolts and take out the tool kit container.
2. Unfasten the jack on the floor of the luggage compartment.
3. Take out a spare wheel from a niche.
4. Using the wheel wrench, pry off the wheel covers (or hub cap)...
5...then loosen each bolt half a turn. Where installed "secret" wheel bolts, you will need a special adapter.
6. Remove the appropriate hatches from the thresholds...
7...and insert the jack as far as it will go.
8. Making sure the jack is on a firm surface, turn the jack handle clockwise until the wheel is off the ground.
9. Turn out bolts and remove a wheel. Install the spare wheel and tighten the bolts by hand. Lower the car to the ground.
10. Tighten the wheel bolts securely in a diagonal pattern, then install the trim cap/hub cap. Loosen the bolts as soon as possible and re-tighten the bolts to the correct torque.
In conclusion...
- Remove the blocks from under the wheels.
- Put the damaged wheel, jack and tools in their places in the trunk.
- Check the pressure in a newly installed tire. If the pressure is low, or if you do not have a pressure gauge with you, drive slowly to the nearest garage or repair shop and restore the correct pressure to the tire.
- Repair the damaged tire as soon as possible.
