Adjusting the clearance of the gear engagement in the rack and pinion mechanism (Mercedes-Benz Vito W639)

The gear clearance adjustment is performed as follows.

Tighten the adjusting screw (1) to a torque of 55-60 Nm, after tightening, turn the adjusting screw (1) counterclockwise by 1/8 of a turn.

Removal the electronic steering lock mechanism



1. Remove the left front panel cover.

2. Insert the key into the ignition switch.

3. Disconnect the connector (1) of the locking mechanism (3).

4. Turn the safety bolt (2) 180° clockwise and pull it out.

5. Remove the electronic steering lock mechanism (3).

6. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
