The current maintenance period is displayed on the dashboard.

The current maintenance period is displayed on the dashboard.

The maintenance indicator provides information about the optimal time for maintenance work.

Approximately one month before the maintenance deadline, the maintenance indicator automatically appears on the multi-function display after the ignition is switched on or while driving.

The following messages may appear on the display:
  • "SERVICE IN xx DAYS" (THEN IN xx DAYS)
  • "SERVICE IN xx KM" (THAT AFTER MILEAGE xx KM)
  • "SERVICE EXCEEDED BY xx KM" (TO IS EXPIRED BY xx KM)
  • "CARRY OUT SERVICE!" (GET IT DONE!)

Depending on the driving style, the maintenance period is indicated in days or kilometers (KM).

If the maintenance period has expired, an additional sound signal is activated.

The maintenance indicator automatically switches off after 30 seconds or by pressing the R button on the instrument panel.

The distance between two separate maintenance services depends on the driving style.

A gentle driving style with medium engine speed and avoiding short trips will increase the driving range.

Note: If the battery is disconnected, the maintenance indicator does not take into account the idle time.

In order to comply with the maintenance deadlines, it is necessary to take this period of time into account.

After performing maintenance, the maintenance indicator can be reset as follows:

If the trip meter and total mileage counter are not displayed, press the button on the multifunction steering wheel, press repeatedly until the display appears (Section Multifunctional steering wheel, multi-information display previous Chapter).

Button or press several times until the maintenance indicator appears.

Press the R button on the instrument panel for about 2 seconds.

  • "DO YOU WANT TO RESET SERVICE INTERVAL? CONFIRM BY PRESSING R" (DO YOU WISH TO RESET THE MAINTENANCE INTERVAL? CONFIRM WITH THE R BUTTON)

Press the R button on the instrument panel again, the TO indication is reset.

The current maintenance indication appears with the new mileage.

If the reset of the maintenance indicator was performed by mistake, the indicator readings can be updated at the maintenance station "Mercedes-Benz".

If a message appears "ENGINE OIL LEVEL SWITCH ON IGNITION!" (ENGINE OIL LEVEL - TURN ON IGNITION!), the electronic key in the ignition switch is not in position 2.

After about 3 seconds the indication appears "ENGINE OIL LEVEL MEASURING NOW!" (ENGINE OIL LEVEL - MEASUREMENT PROCESS CONTINUES!).

  • "REDUCE OIL LEVEL!" (REDUCE OIL LEVEL!)

Excess oil should be drained or pumped out. There is a risk of damage to the engine or catalytic converter.

Filling engine oil - refer to Section Changing engine oil and oil filter.

If the correct measurement of the oil level is not possible, an indication appears "MEASURING NOW NOT POSSIBLE!" (MEASUREMENT IS NOT POSSIBLE AT THE MOMENT).

Repeat the oil level measurement after some time.

If the oil level is still not indicated, the oil level can also be checked with an oil dipstick (refer to Section Checking fluid levels, leak control).
