The maintenance indicator provides information on the optimal timing of maintenance work.
Approximately one month before the end of the service period, the service indicator automatically appears on the multifunction display after switching on the ignition or while driving.
The following messages may appear on the display:
- «SERVICE IN xx DAYS» (THEN IN xx DAYS)
- «SERVICE IN xx KM» (MAINTENANCE AFTER RUNNING xx KM)
- «SERVICE EXCEEDED BY xx KM» (THAT IS OVERDUE BY xx KM)
- «CARRY OUT SERVICE!» (GO THAT!)
Depending on the driving style, the maintenance period is displayed in days or in kilometers (KM).
If the maintenance period is overdue, an additional sound signal is activated.
The maintenance display is automatically turned off after 30 seconds or by pressing the R button on the dashboard.
Manual call for maintenance display
Turn the electronic key in the ignition switch to position 1.
With a non-indicated mileage meter and a total mileage counter, the button
on the multifunction steering wheel, press repeatedly until the indication appears (Chapter Multifunction steering wheel, multi-information display).
Press the or button several times until the TO indication appears.
Pressing the button displays the next system.
Attention! The TO indicator does not indicate the level of impellent oil. (Warning indication of the level of impellent oil - refer to Section Multifunction steering wheel, multi-information display previous Chapter).
The driving distance between two separate maintenance depends on the driving style.
A gentle driving style at medium engine speeds and avoidance of short trips increase driving distance.
Note. If the battery is disconnected, the service indicator does not take into account idle time.
To comply with the terms of maintenance, it is necessary to take into account this period of time.
After maintenance, the maintenance indicator can be reset as follows:
Turn the electronic key in the ignition switch to position 1.
With the odometer and odometer not displayed, press the button on the multifunction steering wheel several times until the indication appears (Chapter Multifunction steering wheel, multi-information display previous Chapter).
Press the or button several times until the TO indication appears.
Press the R button on the dashboard for about 2 seconds.
The multifunction display prompts:
- «DO YOU WANT TO RESET SERVICE INTERVAL? CONFIRM BY PRESSING R» (DO YOU WISH TO RESET THIS PERIOD? CONFIRM WITH R BUTTON)
Press the R button on the dashboard again, the To indication is reset.
The current service display with the new mileage appears.
If the service indicator was reset by mistake, the indicator can be updated at the service station «Mercedes-Benz».
Engine oil warning indicator
When checking the oil level, the vehicle must be in a horizontal position.
Check the oil level approximately 5 minutes after stopping a warm engine.
Turn the electronic key in the ignition switch to position 2.
With the odometer and odometer not displayed, press the button on the multifunction steering wheel several times until the indication appears.
Press the or button on the multifunction steering wheel several times until the engine oil level is displayed «WHEN MEASURING CAR MUST BE LEVEL!» (WHEN MEASURING, THE VEHICLE MUST STAND LIGHT!). This indication appears only as a reminder; if the car is not level, the measurement can be interrupted by pressing the or button.
If the measurement is not interrupted, this will lead to an incorrect measurement - put the car on a flat surface and repeat the measurement.
If a message appears «ENGINE OIL LEVEL SWITCH ON IGNITION!» (ENGINE OIL LEVEL - SWITCH THE IGNITION ON!), the electronic key in the ignition switch is not in position 2.
Approximately 3 seconds later, the display appears «ENGINE OIL LEVEL MEASURING NOW!» (ENGINE OIL LEVEL - MEASUREMENT PROCESS CONTINUES!).
The following messages may appear on the display:
- «OIL LEVEL CORRECT» (OIL REFILLING IS NOT REQUIRED)
- «ADD 1.0 LITRES OF OIL!» (ADD 1 LITER OF OIL)
- «ADD 1.5 LITRES OF OIL!» (ADD 1.5 LITERS OF OIL)
- «ADD 2.0 LITRES OF OIL!» (ADD 2.0 LITERS OF OIL)
- «REDUCE OIL LEVEL!» (REDUCE THE OIL LEVEL!)
Excess oil should be drained or pumped out. There is a risk of engine or catalytic converter damage.
Filling with impellent oil - refer to Section Changing the engine oil and oil filter.
If it is not possible to measure the oil level correctly, the display appears «MEASURING NOW NOT POSSIBLE!» (MEASUREMENT IS NOT POSSIBLE AT THE MOMENT).
Repeat the oil level measurement after a while.
If the oil level is not displayed again, the oil level can also be checked with an oil dipstick (refer to section Checking fluid levels, leak control).
Note. If the engine oil level appears on the multifunction display while the engine is running, refer to «Warning system and fault signaling» (Chapter Warning and indicator lamps, as well as messages of the multi-information display about the registered malfunctions previous Chapter).
The oil level cannot be monitored while the engine is running, the indication appears «ENGINE OIL LEVEL NOT WHEN ENGINE ON» (DO NOT CHECK THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING).
