Note. The idle time of the vehicle with the battery disconnected by the ASSYST system is not taken into account when calculating the time for the next scheduled maintenance by the ASSYST system and must be taken into account when displaying warning messages.
Note. The scheduled maintenance due date indicator informs the vehicle owner of the OPTIMAL maintenance date and its readings have nothing to do with the engine oil level.
An example of displaying information about the timing of scheduled maintenance (on list A)
Approximately one month before the next control date, when the ignition is switched on, the ASSYST system automatically displays one of the following possible messages on the screen:
- «SERVICE A/B IN xx DAYS» (A/B Maintenance SCOPE TO BE COMPLETED IN xx DAYS);
- «SERVICE A/B IN xx km» (A/B MAINTENANCE SCOPE MUST BE COMPLETED AFTER xx km);
- «SERVICE A/B - DUE NOW!» (COMPLETE THE SCOPE OF A/B MOT!);
After about 30 seconds, the message should disappear from the screen automatically. If necessary, the indication can be turned off forcibly by pressing the reset button on the left of the instrument cluster (see illustration The layout of the control components on the instrument panel and steering column).
If the scheduled maintenance procedure was overdue, a warning is displayed on the display screen «SERVICE A/B EXCEEDED BY xx DAYS» (A/B Maintenance SCOPE OVERDUE xx DAYS) or «SERVICE A/B EXCEEDED BY xx KM» (MAXIMUM PERMISSIBLE MILEAGE BEFORE COMPLETING THE SCOPE OF A/B MAINTENANCE IS EXCEEDED BY xx KM), additionally accompanied by a signal buzzer.
When performing scheduled maintenance at a Mercedes-Benz branded service station, the ASSYST system is reset by the station specialists. If necessary (if the service was performed on the terms of the branded service station) the reset can be done by the car owner himself. Turn the ignition on, the multifunction display screen should show the base page (see Section Instrument cluster, meters, control lamps and indicator lights). Hold down the or button of the corresponding control panel on the steering wheel until the or symbol is displayed on the screen indicating the due date for the next MOT according to the corresponding list. Then press the reset button on the left side of the instrument cluster (see illustration The layout of the control components on the instrument panel and steering column) and hold it down for about 2 seconds until the message appears on the screen «DO YOU WANT TO RESET SERVICE INTERVAL?» (DO YOU WISH TO RESET THE DUE DATE INDICATOR?) And «CONFIRM BY USING RESET BUTTON» (CONFIRM BY PRESSING THE RESET BUTTON), - to reset, press the button on the left of the instrument cluster again. The deadline for the next maintenance should be transferred to the next milestone.
Note. If the indication of the ASSYST system was reset by accident, you should contact the specialists of the Mercedes-Benz branded service station to restore the original data.
Calling up the ASSYST indication, if necessary, can be forced through the corresponding function of the on-board computer (see the car's owner's manual, - ask in automotive literature stores).
Schedule of ongoing maintenance (THAT) car according to lists A and B is presented in Section Schedule of ongoing maintenance.
The amount of mileage remaining until the next maintenance is performed is determined by the driving style and ranges from 15,000 to 22,500 km (365÷730 days). An economical driving style at medium engine speeds and the refusal to travel short distances contribute to its increase.
