Removal and installation the intermediate support bearing of the cardan transmission (Mercedes-Benz S-Class W116)

If necessary, mark the cardan shafts as shown in Fig. 205.

Remove the mounting ring from the groove and remove the front protective cover.

Using a puller, remove the bearing with the groove on the outer ring from the fork shaft, complete with the elastic support. Press the bearing out of the support.

Check all parts for wear.

Carefully press the bearing into the elastic support.

Install the rear protective cover onto the fork shaft.

Press the bearing assembly with elastic support onto the fork shaft.

Install the front protective cover, insert the installation ring into the groove of the fork shaft so that the front protective cover is pressed tightly against the inner ring of the bearing.

Move the rubber cuff and apply Molykote Longterm 2 grease to the shaft splines.

Connect the cardan shafts in accordance with the marks in Fig. 205.
