All work described in this section can be performed on the engine installed in the vehicle. The location of the drive chain and all drive components is shown in Fig. 84.

Fig. 84. Camshaft drive.

1 - exhaust camshaft,
2 - chain tensioner,
3 - intake camshaft,
4 - guide sprocket,
5 - safety bolt,
6 - intermediate sprocket,
7 - double-row roller chain,
8 - crankshaft sprocket,
9 - chain tensioner shoe axle,
10 - chain tensioner shoe,
11 - hydraulic chain tensioner.

The endless chain transmits rotation from the sprocket on the crankshaft to the two camshaft sprockets, the guide and intermediate sprockets, and is supported by a damper. The chain tension is provided by a hydraulic tensioner located in the cylinder block, acting on the shoe.

The camshaft sprockets are keyed and secured with bolts.
