Suck the oil out of the power steering pump reservoir with a syringe. Disconnect the high pressure inlet hose and outlet hose from the booster.
Openings in the amplifier of the steering mechanism to close stoppers.
Loosen the bolts connecting the steering gear to the steering gear shaft.
Remove steering shaft. To do this, remove the rubber protective cover of the combination switch, unscrew the switch mount and remove the switch.
Disconnect the sliding contact wire to the switch, then remove the steering wheel trim upwards, unscrew the steering wheel mounting nut on the steering shaft and remove the steering wheel.
Loosen the hexagon socket screws from the protective cover. Pull the steering shaft in place with the bearing housing up until the connection of the steering mechanism and the steering shaft disengages.
Disconnect the tie rod and tie rod from the bipod.
Loosen the bolts securing the steering gear to the longitudinal reinforcement of the body base.
Remove and lower the steering gear.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order, using the control bolt of the middle position of the steering mechanism 116 589 21 00, as well as shown in fig. 238 mounting mandrel (own manufacture to check the length of the steering shaft during installation).

When installing the steering mechanism, use only new fastening bolts, check the condition of the hydraulic system hoses. even small abrasions can lead to a rupture of the hose and damage to the power steering in a short time.
Fill the tank with the recommended oil.
Start the engine and turn the wheels several times in both directions, add oil if necessary.
After installing the steering mechanism, check the adjustment of the front wheels.
