The rear suspension shock absorbers are also used as rear suspension travel limiters. Therefore, the shock absorbers are removed when the car is on its wheels or if the suspension arm is supported by a jack when the car body is installed on stands.
Remove the rear seat and its back.
Remove the cover on the rear wall of the body.
Unscrew the nut of the upper shock absorber mount, remove the washer and the rubber cushion of the upper mount.
Unscrew the lower shock absorber mount.
Remove the shock absorber.
Before installation, check the shock absorber mounting parts. The metal bushing should fit tightly in the rubber base of the lower shock absorber mounting hinge. The lower hinge should not rotate in the lower shock absorber eye.
Install the shock absorber, tighten the upper shock absorber mount nut. Pay attention to the correct position of all shock absorber parts. Secure the cover to the rear wall of the body, install the rear seat and the back of the rear seat.
