The maintenance schedule can be found at the end of the book. It is based on the maintenance schedule that car manufacturers provide to their branded service stations. In addition, this schedule contains some preventive maintenance operations for those units and parts that are checked during the technical inspection. Be sure to adhere to the maintenance schedules approved by the supplier.

Practical advice

Compressed air leakage. If air leaks during compression, the most common causes are:

• 1. The intake manifold or air filter housing is faulty (the latter due to a faulty intake valve).
• 2. The cylinder head gasket is faulty or there is a crack in the cylinder head.
• 3. The oil filler neck or dipstick tube is open; the cylinder walls and mirrors or piston rings are worn out.
• 4. If you hear hissing in the exhaust pipe, the exhaust valve is most likely leaky.

It should be remembered that Mercedes fulfills the warranty obligations given by the company only if your car undergoes timely maintenance at a warranty workshop.
