Passenger comfort is ensured by seats with active ventilation and a lot of adjustments of the backrest and cushion position. Inside the seat there are light inflatable air cushions, a pneumatic massager and fans (Fig. 1.5).
The Mercedes E-Class cabin is comfortable for people of different heights and weights. For example, if the driver is 1.99 m tall, there is enough space in the back for a passenger of average height.
Despite the fact that the external dimensions of the Mercedes E-Class exceed the previous model by only 50 mm, its interior offers much more space. This is achieved due to the following changes:
- 1. The width of the passenger compartment at elbow and shoulder level has been increased by 11 mm. The rear of the passenger compartment is 1450 mm wide, which is 34 mm more than in the previous class of car.
- 2. The distance between front and rear seat passengers has been increased by 33 mm and is 840 mm.
- 3. The distance at the knee level of rear passengers has been increased by 44 mm.
- 4. The height of the passenger compartment in the head area of the front seat passenger has been increased by 22 mm and is 997 mm. In the rear, it is 970 mm, which, compared to the previous model, gives a gain of 12 mm.
