Removal

1. Open the door all the way and support it from below with a jack or stand, placing some soft material underneath.

2. Disconnect the door opening limiter from the body pillar.

3. If the vehicle is equipped with power windows, disconnect the electrical wiring.

4. Fix the position of the hinge plates on the door frame, unscrew and remove the hinge screws. Remove the door from the car.

Installation

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. If the hinges are attached in the previous position, then no special adjustment is required. If it is necessary to raise or lower the door or achieve its position flush with the surface of the body, loosen the hinge mounting bolts and move the door in the desired direction. The gap along the door contour should be the same along both side edges and along the top.

Adjusting the position of the lock retainer plate

Adjusting the position of the lock retainer plate on the body pillar affects the closing of the door and the protrusion or retraction of the door edges relative to the panel or body pillar.

To adjust the position of the retainer plate, the screws that secure it are loosened so that it moves with difficulty, after which the door is closed. This is how the door is closed. Then carefully open the door and tighten the screws until they stop. If necessary, adjusting shims are removed from under the retainer plate or added to it, which allows for good closing. Sometimes it is advisable to adjust the door so that its rear edge protrudes 1.0 mm relative to the rear door or body panel, thereby reducing air flow noise.
