Station wagon



Note: This describes removal and installation for the Station Wagon model. The installation and removal process for other models is similar. Differences are described in the text.


Removal



1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable with the ignition off. The cabin air filter box must be removed first.

Warning! Before disconnecting the cable, find out the radio receiver security code, if any, refer to Section Replacing the battery.


2. Remove the tailgate or trunk lid trim, refer to the relevant section.

3. Press out 8 clips (arrows in the illustration) (2) with the number plate facing outwards. To do…


3. Press out 8 clips (arrows in the illustration) (2) with the number plate facing outwards. To do this, place a head of the appropriate diameter and depth on each clamp from the inside of the cover and push the clamp out.

Note: The head presses on the clamp pin, separating it from the holder.


4. Unscrew the nut from the screw (1) and remove the trim (2) with the license plate from the tailgate.

5. Disconnect the cable (1) from the locking mechanism (2) (arrow on the illustration) and disconnect the plug.

Note: Depending on the design, the cover may need to be removed to be able to disconnect the cable.




6. Remove 2 screws (1) and remove the locking mechanism (2) with the lock from the door.

Installation



1. Secure the locking mechanism to the tailgate with two screws to a torque of 9 Nm.

2. Connect the cable to the locking mechanism and fit the connector.

3. Install the license plate cover onto the tailgate so that the clips and screws fit into the holes. Press the cover firmly onto the door and secure it in place. Screw on the nuts.

4. Reinstall the tailgate or boot lid trim, refer to the relevant section.

5. Connect the negative (-) cable to the battery with the ignition off. Reinstall the cabin air filter box. Enter the radio code and set the clock.
