Removal
Note: This operation requires a suitable hoist and winch.
1. Perform the actions described in paragraph 4, items 1-6, inclusive.
2. Unscrew the power steering reservoir cap and drain as much fluid as needed. Use a large syringe. Replace the reservoir cap when empty.
3. Where required, loosen the fittings and disconnect the fuel hoses from the hydraulic pump of the suspension leveling system / power steering. Release the pipes from the holders and brackets on the engine
4. Where required, loosen the air conditioning compressor bolts as described in Chapter 3, and support it in the engine compartment, separating it from the engine, but without disconnecting the cooling pipes.
5. Depressurize the power supply system as described in Chapter 4.
6. Unscrew the union nuts and disconnect the supply and drain lines. Where necessary, hold the unions from turning. Disconnect the drain pipe from the pressure regulator and disconnect the supply line from the fuel distributor or the supply pipe, depending on what is being installed.
7. Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle control lever (if necessary, refer to Chapter 4), then release the cable from all brackets on the engine and move it to one side.
8. When working in the engine compartment, disconnect all necessary hoses and tubes so that they do not interfere with engine removal. Remember the location and routing of all hoses and tubes so as not to mix them up during installation.
9. Similarly, in the engine compartment, disconnect the wires from the corresponding parts and connectors. Remember the location and routing of all connections so as not to mix them up during installation. Release all wires and wiring harnesses from the holders and brackets on the engine.
10. Where required, unscrew the engine speed sensor from the flywheel side and release the wires from the holders. Leave the sensor with the wiring harness in the engine compartment, taking care not to damage it.
11. Where provided, disconnect the knock sensor connector from the ignition module on the left wing panel, then release the wiring harnesses from the holders and lay the harness across the engine.
12. On models with automatic transmission, unscrew the heat exchanger tubes from the engine sump and remove the unit.
13. Perform the actions described in paragraph 4, items 21-28, inclusive.
Installation
14. Refer to paragraph 4, item 29.
