Basic information on engine repair (Mercedes-Benz C-Class W201)

0
This part of Chapter 2 includes a description of the work associated with removing the engine-transmission unit from the car, and the main types of repair of the cylinder head and block, as well as other engine systems.

This section contains a variety of information, ranging from advice on preparing for repairs to step-by-step descriptions of procedures for disassembling, removing, checking the condition, restoring, assembling and installing internal engine systems and devices.

Starting from paragraph 7 all instructions assume that the engine is removed from the vehicle. For information on repair work without removing the engine from the vehicle, as well as removal and installation of engine attachments, including those requiring repair, refer to parts A, B and C of this chapter and paragraph 7. Skip all preparatory operations described in parts A, B and C if they have already been performed when removing the engine from the vehicle.

With the exception of the tightening torques, which are given at the beginning of Parts A, B and C, all technical data concerning engine repair are given at the beginning of this part of Chapter 2.
