Front cuff
1. Remove the crankshaft pulley/vibration damper and hub as described in paragraph 5.
2. Measure and record the cuff installation depth.
3. Hook and pull the cuff out of the housing. You can drill a small hole in the cuff, screw in a self-tapping screw, and pull the cuff out with pliers.
4. Check the bushing at the end of the crankshaft. If it is worn or scored, it must be replaced. If the bushing is tight, carefully remove it with a lever.
5. Clean the crankshaft seal housing and bushing.
6. Dip the new seal into clean engine oil and press it into the housing using a pipe or a wrench (open end first) to the marked depth. A piece of thin polyethylene or adhesive tape around the bushing will help protect the cuff from damage during installation.
7. Where used, remove the plastic or tape from the bushing.
