System type

4-cylinder gasoline engines — A high-pressure system with a cross-flow or drop-down radiator, with a radiator fan driven by an auxiliary unit drive belt with an electromagnetic coupling, a centrifugal water pump driven by an additional belt, a bypass path thermostat and a separate expansion tank.

6-cylinder gasoline engines — A high-pressure system with a cross-flow or drop-down radiator, a radiator fan driven by a drive belt of auxiliary units with viscous engagement, a centrifugal water pump driven by an additional belt, a bypass path thermostat, a separate expansion tank and overflow tank.

Diesel engines - High pressure system with cross or down flow radiator, radiator fan driven by accessory drive belt with thermostatically controlled thermo-viscous or electromagnetic engagement, centrifugal type water pump driven by auxiliary belt, bypass thermostat, separate expansion tank and overflow tank.

  • Fully open - 100°C

Coolant

Type - Soft water and antifreeze approved by Mercedes

Percentage of water and antifreeze: *
  • Protection up to - 37°C - 50% water and 50% antifreeze by volume
  • Protection up to - 45°C - 45% water and 55% antifreeze by volume

*Note: Do not use coolant more than 55% antifreeze, as this will impair heat dissipation and reduce the antifreeze effect.
