Disassembly
Multi-disc brakes B2, B3 and locking gear in position «P»
2 - Transmission housing; 11 - Bolts; 14 - Multi-disc brake B2; 15 - Locking gear in position «P»; 133 - Multi-disc brake B3; 133a - Retaining ring; 133b - Spring gasket
1. Remove the gearbox from the torque converter.
2. Remove the multi-disc brake B3 (133) and spring pad (133b), by removing the retaining ring (133a) from the transmission housing.
3. Remove the bolts (11).
4. Remove the multi-disc brake B2 (14) from the transmission housing.
5. Remove the lock gear in position «P» (15).
Assembly
Gap check «L» in multi-disc brake B3
2 - Transmission housing (outer brake support B3); 14a - Piston; 133a - Outer disc 6.5 mm thick; 133b, 133c - Outer discs 1.8 mm thick; 133d - Disc spring; 133e - Friction discs
Assembly is carried out in the reverse order of disassembly.
Check and measure the clearance in the B3 multi-disc brake. Nominal clearance «L» in a multi-disc brake B3 lies within the range of 1.0-1.4 mm. Install brake discs B3 together in the order shown in Ref. illustrations and insert them one by one, measure the gap «L» between snap ring (133f) and outer disc (133a) at three points, - during the measurement, the retaining ring (133f) must touch the upper race of the bearing in the groove of the outer brake mount (2).
If necessary, adjust the clearance by selecting retaining rings. Retaining rings are available in thicknesses of 3.2, 3.5, 3.8, 4.1, 4.4 and 4.7 mm.
