Disassembly

Multi-disc brakes B2, B3 and locking gear in position «P»

Multi-disc brakes B2, B3 and locking gear in position "P"
2 - Transmission housing; 11 - Bolts; 14 - Multi-disc brake B2; 15 - Locking gear in position "P"; 133 - Multi-disc brake B3; 133a - Retaining ring; 133b - Spring gasket

1. Remove the gearbox from the torque converter.

2. Remove the B3 multi-disc brake (133) and spring lining (133b) by removing the retaining ring (133a) from the transmission housing.

3. Unscrew the bolts (11).

4. Remove the multi-disc brake B2 (14) from the transmission housing.

5. Remove the locking gear in position "P" (15).

Assembly

Checking the clearance «L» in the multi-disc brake B3

Checking the clearance "L" in the multi-disc brake B3
2 - Transmission housing (outer brake support B3); 14a - Piston; 133a - Outer disc thickness 6.5 mm; 133b, 133c - Outer discs 1.8 mm thick; 133d - Disc spring; 133e - Friction discs

Assembly is carried out in the reverse order of disassembly.

Check and measure the clearance of the B3 multi-disc brake. The nominal clearance value "L" of the B3 multi-disc brake is within the range of 1.0-1.4 mm. Install the B3 brake discs together in the order shown in the accompanying illustration and insert them one by one, measure the clearance "L" between the retaining ring (133f) and the outer disc (133a) at three points, - during the measurement, the retaining ring (133f) should touch the upper bearing race in the groove of the outer brake support (2).

If necessary, adjust the clearance by selecting retaining rings. Retaining rings are available in thicknesses of 3.2, 3.5, 3.8, 4.1, 4.4 and 4.7 mm.
