Replacing the lower control arm (Mercedes-Benz S-Class W140)

Removal



1. Separate the control arm from the steering knuckle assembly (see section Removal and installation the lower ball joint).

2. Unscrew the fastener (47a) and separate the shock absorber (47) from the lever.

3. Loosen the eccentric bolt nuts (19, 19b, 20 and 20b) and remove the lower arm assembly, - try to remember the installation positions of the bolts.

4. If necessary, release the ball joint from the lever (see section Removal and installation the lower ball joint).

Installation



1. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Replace all self-locking fasteners.

2. Do not forget to adjust the front wheel alignment angles of the vehicle.

Note: Tightening of the eccentric bolt nuts should be done after the vehicle has been lowered to the ground.
