Examination
1. Pull off the air intake hose that runs from the air cleaner to the front of the engine compartment.
2. Loosen the screws and disconnect the heater flap valve from the air cleaner. Disconnect the warm air pipe from the valve base (see fig. 3.2).

3. From the back of the valve body, direct the hot air flow through the thermostat. Observe the flap through the inlet at the front of the body. The thermostat should move the flap and close the hot air outlet when the hot air temperature exceeds 30°C. If this does not happen, replace the thermostat as described in the next section.
Replacing the thermostat
4. After removing the damper housing from the air cleaner, carefully remove the thermostat from the mandrel and separate it from the pusher.
5. To install the new thermostat, first push the control plunger and spring back into the housing. Then install the thermostat into the holder. Release the plunger, making sure it aligns properly with the end of the thermostat.
6. Install the damper housing onto the air cleaner in the reverse order of removal.
After this, install the air intake pipe.
