Removal
1. Disconnect the air intake hose that runs from the air cleaner to the front of the engine compartment.
2. Disconnect the warm air intake from the base of the air inlet flap valve.
3. On models equipped with a Stromberg type carburetor, loosen the clamps and remove the pipe from the air cleaner to the carburetor (see Fig. 2.3, a-c).

4. On models equipped with a Pierburg type carburetor, unscrew the nut that secures the inlet pipe to the camshaft cover.
5. Remove the crankcase ventilation hose from the lower half of the air cleaner.
6. Loosen the nuts, release the latches and lift the air cleaner cover. Remove the filter element. Loosen the nuts/screws and lift the lower part of the air cleaner (see Fig. 2.6, a-c). On models with a Pierburg carburetor, remove the rubber seal.

7. On later models with a Stromberg carburetor and air cleaner with external fasteners, remove the nuts and separate the lower part of the air cleaner from the fasteners.
Installation
9. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Check that the filter element is installed correctly in accordance with the marks on its upper surface. Where required, tighten all fasteners to the required torque.
