1. Place a tube of approximately 150 mm length on the ball joint tailpiece and check the free movement of the axle pin. If any noticeable play is detected, or if signs of the pin being bitten are detected, replace the assembly.
2. Assess the condition of the protective cover (8f) and its mounting clamps (8d and 8h).
Checking the condition of the support without removing it from the vehicle
1. Jack up the front of the car and place it on supports.
2. Visually assess the condition of the protective cover (8f) of the ball joint. By firmly pulling and pushing the wheel, try to qualitatively assess the condition of the support, if necessary, replace the lever assembly (6) (see section Replacing the upper control arm).
