The brake pipes are compressed at the front and have a conical part at the end for connection to a conical threaded hole in the brake cylinder or distribution block. On the conical part there is a tubular nut, which ensures a secure connection.
Brake hoses are used to connect the fixed part of the brake system with its moving parts.
Replacement
Jack up and support the car. Disconnect the brake pipe at the connecting nut.
Plug the connection point of the tube towards the master cylinder with a suitable plug.
Install a new tube.
When connecting the brake pipe, apply a small amount of brake fluid to the chamfers of the contact surfaces and tighten the nut.
Install the new brake hose, making sure it is not twisted, and tighten the union nut.
Use only hoses recommended by the manufacturer.
After replacing the brake pipe/hose, check (without lowering the car), does the hose touch anything when the wheel rotates.
Caution: Avoid contact of brake hoses with oil or petrol. Never coat them with varnish.
Bleed the brake system.
Lower the car.
