Difficulty shifting gears
Problems with gear shifting may be related to either a malfunction of the gearbox itself or wear of the shift mechanism. In this case:
1. Consult an experienced technician. Removing, disassembling, repairing or even replacing the gearbox may be required to resolve the problem.
2. If the gears do not shift well on a new car, the cause may be an assembly error. Claims must be made within the warranty period.
3. The shift mechanism may be incorrectly installed or its mounting at the front of the gearbox or at the rear of the shift lever may be worn. Make sure that the shift mechanism at the base of the lever is always well lubricated.
4. If the shift lever moves noticeably easier into one of the positions, the corresponding rod may have become loose.
