Removal and installation a group of switches to the left of the control panel (Mercedes-Benz C-Class W203)

In the switch group on the left, next to the steering wheel, various light switches are installed, as well as a switch for adjusting the outside rearview mirror. If any element fails, the switch group is replaced as a set.

Removal



1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable with the ignition off. The cabin air filter box must be removed first.

Warning! Before disconnecting the cable, find out the radio receiver security code, if any, refer to Section Replacing the battery.


2. Remove the fuse box cover on the side of the instrument panel, refer to Section Relays and fuses.

3. Remove the parking brake release handle (1) from the instrument panel, unscrew the 2 screws (2)…


3. Remove the parking brake release handle (1) from the instrument panel, unscrew the 2 screws (2) and press the handle down.

4. Unscrew the locking screw (3) of the switch group.

5. Compress the 2 retaining springs and remove the switch group (2) from the instrument panel.

6. Release the connecting plug from the back of the switch group and disconnect it.

7. Disconnect the headlight range controller from the holder near the switch group and move it to the side.

Installation



1. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

2. Connect the battery ground (-) cable with the ignition off. Reinstall the cabin air filter box. If necessary, enter the radio code and set the clock.
