Removal and installation the hood lock (Mercedes-Benz C-Class W203)

Note: The hood lock, which has a difficult movement, is not lubricated, but replaced.


Removal



1. Open the hood and place it vertically.

2. Mark the position of the lock retainer (1) with a felt-tip pen.

3. Unscrew the mounting bolts (arrows in the illustration) and remove the retainer from the hood.

4. Mark the position of the bonnet lock (1) with a felt-tip pen.

5. Unscrew the mounting bolts (arrows in the illustration) and remove the lock (1) from the front panel near the radiator.

6. Disconnect the hood release cable from the lock and remove the lock.

7. Mark the position of the locking hook (1) on the bonnet using a felt-tip pen.

8. Unscrew the mounting bolts (arrows in the illustration) and remove the locking hook (1) from the hood.

Installation



1. Secure the locking hook to the bonnet in accordance with the mark with a torque of 8 Nm.

2. Install the hood lock into the front panel near the radiator, connect the drive cable to the lock and secure the cable to the front panel.

3. Tighten the lock in accordance with the mark on the front panel near the radiator with a torque of 8 Nm.

4. Tighten the retainer in accordance with the mark on the hood with a torque of 8 Nm.

5. Close the hood, check the operation of the lock and the locking hook. If necessary, loosen the mounting bolts and move the hood lock.
