Electronic control unit

Removal

1. The electronic control unit for the diesel engine management system (EDS) is located in the rear of the engine compartment behind the bulkhead panel.

2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

3. Disconnect the control unit wires from the multi-pin connector.

4. Remove the mounting screws and remove the unit from the partition.

Installation

5. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Overload protection relay

Removal

6. The relay is mounted in the base unit, next to the EDS microprocessor - refer to the previous subsection. It contains fuses and diodes that protect the EDS system from current overload and power surges.

7. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

8. Carefully remove the relay from the board.

Installation

9. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Crankshaft speed sensor

10. Refer to the information provided for the electronic idle speed control system in paragraph 12.

Coolant Temperature Sensor

11. Refer to the information provided for the electronic idle speed control system in paragraph 12.

Electromagnetic drive of the ELR system

12. Refer to the information provided for the electronic idle speed control system in paragraph 12.

ELR system electromagnetic vacuum valve

13. Refer to the information provided in chapter 4G.

Air flow meter

Removal

14. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the air cleaner assembly as described in paragraph 2.
