General information
1. The fuel thermostat is a bypass valve that directs fuel through a heat exchanger located in the cooling system before it enters the injection pump. This ensures reliable starting and operation of the engine at low ambient temperatures.
Removing
2. The fuel thermostat is bolted to a bracket next to the high pressure fuel pump behind the fuel prefilter.
3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
4. Loosen the clamps and remove the fuel hoses from the thermostat fittings. Be prepared for possible fuel leakage and lay a rag that absorbs fuel well.
5. Turn away bolts and remove the thermostat from the arm supporting it.
Installation
6. Installation is made in the reverse order of removal.
