Electronic control unit
Removing
1. On models with electronic idle control (ELR), the operation of the electronic unit of the anti-jerk system (ARA) - controlled by the ELR system - refer to the information given in paragraph 12.
2. On models with pneumatic idle control, electronic jerk control unit (ARA) located in the rear of the engine compartment behind the false panel partition.
3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
4. Disconnect the control box wires from the multi-pin connector.
5. Loosen the fixing screws and remove the block from the partition.
Installation
6. Installation is made in the reverse order of removal.
Crankshaft speed sensor
7. Refer to the information given for the electronic idle control system in paragraph 12.
Coolant temperature sensor
8. Refer to the information given for the electronic idle control system in paragraph 12.
Electromagnetic drive
Removing
9. Electromagnetic drive anti-jerk system (ARA) mounted on the back of the high pressure fuel pump housing. If the vehicle is equipped with both an electronic idle control system (ELR), and an electronic anti-jerk system (ARA), then the lower of the two drives will be the electromagnetic drive of the ARA system (see fig. 12.15).
10. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.,
11. On non-turbo engines, refer to paragraph 2 and remove the air cleaner assembly.
12. Disconnect drive wires from connector
13. Loosen and remove the two screws on the back of the drive. Remove the appropriate brackets.
14. Remove the drive housing, o-ring and pusher.
Installation
15. Installation is made in an order, the return to an order of removal. Transfer the pusher to the new drive if the block has been replaced with a new one. Replace O-ring.
