The fuel thermostat directs fuel, if necessary, before it is supplied to the fuel pump through a heat exchanger installed in the cooling system. This improves engine starting and operation at low ambient temperatures.
Removal
1. The fuel thermostat is bolted to a bracket next to the high pressure fuel pump.
2. Remove the ground cable from the battery.
3. Using clamps, pinch the fuel hoses connected to the fuel thermostat. Loosen the clamps and remove the hoses from the fuel thermostat.
4. Remove the bolts and remove the fuel thermostat from the bracket.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
