General information
How to apply and release the parking brake
Lower arrow - to cock the parking brake, press the pedal
Upper arrow - To release the parking brake, pull the handle
When leaving the car in a parking lot, always apply the parking brake. The parking brake has a pedal drive, the parking brake cocking pedal is located on the left in the driver's footwell. Remember that the handbrake warning lamp mounted in the instrument panel serves only to remind the driver to release it before driving off. Burning of a control lamp does not guarantee completeness of cocking of a parking brake.
On models with АТ transfer of the lever of the selector of ranges of an automatic transmission to position «R» must be carried out after the parking brake is applied. This sequence of actions prevents accidental starting of the car and eliminates the transfer of a significant load on the transmission lock mechanism from the force rolling the car. The unloading of the transmission ensures that when the vehicle is subsequently started, it is easy to remove the lever from the position «R».
When parking the vehicle on an uphill slope, turn the front wheels away from the curb and vice versa.
Before driving, make sure that the parking brake is fully released - the parking brake release handle is located under the instrument panel on the left. When driving with the parking brake not fully released, overheating and failure of the rear wheel brake mechanisms are possible. In addition, this may lead to a malfunction of the ABS.
Note. When starting off with the parking brake applied, a special warning buzzer sounds to alert the driver to release the brake.
