Disassembly and assembly of the intermediate shaft of a manual transmission (Mercedes-Benz S-Class W116)

0
Place the intermediate shaft with the third gear pinion on a stand and use a press to remove the pinions from the shaft.

Use a screwdriver to remove the key from the intermediate shaft.

Check all parts for wear.

Assembly is performed in the reverse order. Install the key in the intermediate shaft. Install the intermediate shaft on the support with the second gear pinion and press the third gear pinion onto the shaft with the belt facing up. Then press the constant mesh gear with the belt facing down. When pressing, pay attention to the relative position of the key and gears. Thoroughly clean the end surfaces of the belts on the gears.
