All fuel injected engines are 4-stroke with electronically controlled petrol injection and air flow meter.
On fig. 1-4 show sections of various engines. The following table lists the model designations, model numbers, and engine types:
In the text of the manual, there are frequent references to the model number and type of engine, especially in tables of dimensions and adjustment data (section 18), so the corresponding numbers need to be remembered well.
Car models of the 280/280 SE and 380 SE types can optionally be equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission or an automatic transmission. The Type 450 SE is equipped with an automatic transmission only.
The suspension of the front wheels is independent, with two wishbones and rubber-metal joints, coil springs and gas-filled double-acting shock absorbers.

Rear wheel suspension on diagonal Mercedes-Benz swingarms, providing stability and high driving performance. Widely spaced coil springs and double-acting gas-filled shock absorbers ensure high driving safety. Engines on all types of vehicles are front-mounted with rear-wheel drive. All engines have overhead camshafts.
The front and rear wheels are equipped with disc brakes with a dual-circuit drive system and a brake booster. The parking brake through the levers and the cable act on the rear wheels. Cars are serially equipped with a steering mechanism with a working pair of screw-nut on circulating balls and power steering.
