Removing
1. Remove the airbag unit.
Attention! Follow the instructions for handling it.
2. With the steering wheel unlocked, turn the wheels straight ahead.
3. Lock the steering wheel by turning the steering wheel a little, snap the lock into place.
4. For an adjustable column: push the steering wheel all the way down.
5. Unscrew countersunk head bolt (32s) socket wrench. In order not to damage the steering lock, the assistant must hold the steering wheel. Disconnect plug connections (38b) And (38s).
6. Remove the steering wheel from the shaft, if necessary knock it down with your palm. The position of the steering wheel relative to the shaft is serially marked.
Installation
1. Thread the plugs (38b) And (38s) through the holes in the steering wheel.
2. Fit the steering wheel so that the shaft and wheel markings match.
3. Screw in a new self-locking countersunk head bolt and tighten it to 80 Nm with an assistant holding the steering wheel.
4. Install the airbag assembly.
5. Make a test drive and check the position of the steering wheel while driving in a straight line. The top edge of the crossbar must be horizontal.
6. In the event that there is a slope, you can move the nozzle onto the splines of the steering shaft by one tooth.
Attention! If this steering wheel offset is not sufficient, check the front wheel toe-in.
7. Watch the control indicator of the airbag unit with the steering wheel fully turned to the stop in both directions with the engine running, the control emitter should not light up.
8. Check for flashing light and turning off the turn signal after turning.
Attention! A dirty or sticky steering wheel can be cleaned with a neutral household cleaner and lukewarm water. Do not use abrasive powders or pastes when cleaning the wheel.
