Removal



1. Remove the airbag unit.

Attention! Follow the instructions for handling.


2. After unlocking the steering wheel lock, set the wheels straight.

3. Lock the steering wheel by turning the steering wheel slightly and click the lock into place.

4. For adjustable column: push the steering wheel all the way in.

5. Unscrew the countersunk bolt (32c) using an Allen key. To avoid damaging the steering lock, have an assistant hold the steering wheel. Disconnect the plug connections (38b) and (38c).

6. Remove the steering wheel from the shaft, knock it off with your palm if necessary. The position of the steering wheel relative to the shaft is serially marked.

Installation



1. Thread the plugs (38b) and (38c) through the holes in the steering wheel.

2. Place the steering wheel so that the markings on the shaft and wheel match.



3. Screw in a new countersunk head self-locking bolt and tighten it to a torque of 80 Nm, while having an assistant hold the steering wheel.

4. Install the airbag unit.

5. Take a test drive and check the steering wheel position while driving straight. The top edge of the crossbar should be horizontal.

6. If there is a tilt, you can move the attachment onto the steering shaft splines by one tooth.

Caution: If this steering wheel offset is not sufficient, check the front wheel alignment.


7. Observe the air bag unit control indicator when turning the steering wheel fully in both directions with the engine running, the control emitter should not light up.

8. Check for blinking lights and turn off turn signal after turning.

Caution! A dirty or sticky steering wheel can be cleaned with a neutral household cleaner and lukewarm water. Do not use abrasive powders or pastes when cleaning the wheel.
