Camshaft Installation Details


1. Remove the front top covers (30) and (30a).

2. Remove the cylinder head guide levers (40).

3. Unscrew the sprocket (3) of the exhaust camshaft of the left cylinder head. 4. Using a wrench, install the camshafts so that the cylinder cams (3) and (9), respectively, (arrows) hold the hydraulic compensators in the middle position.

5. Loosen the camshaft cover mounting bolts, except for cylinders (3) and (9) (arrows) and remove them. Remove the cover (15) together with the left intake camshaft (9).

6. Loosen cover mounting bolts No.3 and No.9 (arrows) one turn at a time and remove them.



7. Remove the intake camshafts.

8. Check hydraulic lifters.

Installation



1. Lubricate all bearings and hydraulic lifters with engine oil.

2. Install the intake and exhaust camshafts in the thrust bearing.

3. Install the camshaft bearing caps (arrows) of cylinders (3) and (9) (not shown by arrows in the illustration) and tighten the bolts one turn at a time.

4. Hold the camshafts with a wrench (25) while tightening the bolts securing covers No.3 and No.9 so that the cams are directed downwards.
