Removal
1. Remove both license plate light bulbs.
2. Remove the luggage compartment light bulb and switch.
3. With the battery already disconnected, release the wiring harness and pull it out of the trunk lid.
4. Place pieces of cloth under the corners of the trunk lid.
5. Mark the position of the hinge mounting bolts with a pencil, then loosen the bolts a few turns.
6. With the help of an assistant, remove the hinge mounting bolts and, supporting the trunk lid, remove it from the car.
Installation
Install in the reverse order of removal, placing the bolts in the previously marked position before tightening them. The trunk lid should be centered relative to the opening and in the correct position relative to the surrounding body parts. The trunk lid should fit tightly against the seal. If necessary, adjust the position of the lid in the opening by loosening the hinge bolts. The fit of the lid to the seal is adjusted by selecting gaskets for the lock retainer.
