The front towing eye is behind the cover on the right side of the buffer. Open the lid with your fingers in a forward motion. When installing a tow bar for a rigid hitch, insert its hook into the middle of the vehicle (in the direction of the arrow), to provide sufficient maneuverability.
The rear towing eye is located on the right under the buffer.
Towing Rules
Turn the ignition on so that the steering wheel does not lock up and you can operate the horn and wipers.
Set the gearbox to neutral, for vehicles with automatic transmission, set the control lever to the position "N".
Turn on the emergency and light alarms for the towing and towed vehicle.
Since the brake booster and power steering only function when the engine is running, the brake pedal and steering wheel must be pressed down accordingly when the vehicle is not running!
We recommend using a tow bar for a rigid hitch, as there is a greater risk of collision when using a flexible tow cable. This cable must be elastic in order to protect the towed and pulling cars from colliding with each other. Use only artificial fiber cables or cables with elastic intermediate links.
Features of towing vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission
Maximum towing speed: 50km/h! Maximum towing distance: 50 km!
For long distances, lift the rear of the vehicle with a towing vehicle or load it completely.
Towing a defective vehicle without gear oil is possible only with raised drive wheels.
Features of towing vehicles equipped with an automatic locking differential (ASD) or a system for regulating the slippage of the driving wheels relative to the supporting surface (ASR)
On vehicles with ASD or ASR, the ignition key must not be set to position II (ignition on), if towing is carried out with the front axle raised.
Car towing (emergency pull-off)
Attention! Towing (to start the engine) using the vehicle in motion is not possible with vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission. Vehicles with a catalytic converter may only be towed when the engine is cold and during testing, otherwise there is a risk of damage to the catalytic converter.
