Windshield Washer System — Removal, Installation and Adjustment (Mercedes-Benz C-Class W201)

Contents: Removal ↡ Installation and adjustment ↡
1. The windshield washer system consists of a reservoir located at the front right side of the engine compartment, an electric pump mounted on the reservoir and an electrically heated three-nozzle jet located in the middle of the bonnet or two double jets located on each side of the bonnet on vehicles equipped with a panoramic windscreen wiper. To inform the driver of a low fluid level in the washer reservoir, a water level sensor is installed on later models.

Removal

2. To remove the tank, disconnect the wire and water hoses from the pump and also the water level indicator connector, if installed.

3. Unscrew the nut of the large plastic cover, then lift the tank up and pull it out.

4. The pump is installed in the tank and can be removed by carefully pulling it out. The pump is a sealed unit and cannot be repaired.

5. The shut-off valve is located in the water hose near the right front suspension strut tower. The valve can be removed after disconnecting the hoses.

6. To remove the jets, disconnect the water hose and electrical connector from the opening on the inside of the hood.

7. Move the jet forward and remove it from the hood.

Installation and adjustment

8. Installation of all parts is carried out in reverse order.

9. Adjust the jet nozzle using a needle so that the water hits the windshield in the middle.
