The headlights are equipped with a beam height adjustment system to allow the beam height to be adjusted from inside the cabin to match the direction of the vehicle load.
The system has a vacuum drive from a vacuum in the intake manifold and a beater in a vacuum reservoir located below under the left wheel arch.
The system includes a three-position switch located next to the headlight switch on the instrument panel. According to the position of the switch, the vacuum in the adjusting unit is regulated. The adjustment unit consists of a diaphragm which is connected to the headlamp's moving lens by a rod having a stroke of approximately 3.0 mm. The vacuum created in the diaphragm causes it to deviate, which in turn moves the stem to raise or lower the headlight beam.
Other than periodically checking the condition of the vacuum hoses, the system does not require any adjustments or maintenance.
