Power Steering Pump — Removal and Installation (Mercedes-Benz S-Class W220)

Removal



1. Remove the fluid from the power steering reservoir.

2. Disconnect the intake pipe from the tank.

3. Remove the feed pipe, fan shroud, distributor cap, etc. to gain easier access to the pump, depending on the engine type.

4. Remove the generator drive belt.

5. Disconnect pulley 41 of the pump.

6. Unscrew the drain 30f and pressure 30i pipes.

7. Disconnect the discharge 27a and drain 27b lines from the "Tandem" pump (on models with automatic level control).

8. Disconnect oil lines 27c and 27d.

9. Disconnect the pump 30. On models with 8-cylinder engines: remove the pump from the beam, then disconnect the pump from this beam.

Installation



Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Fill the power steering reservoir with fluid.
