Removal and installation the fuel pump (Mercedes-Benz S-Class W126)

Removal



Raise the car from behind.

Disconnect the ground from the battery.

Open and close the gas cap to equalize the pressure.

Unscrew the protective cover.

Clamp the fuel supply hose with a screw clamp.

Unscrew the fuel line hoses from the accumulator, pump and filter.

Remove the fuel hose from the fuel pump, first loosening the clamp.

Disconnect the electrical wiring.

Loosen the 2 mounting bolts and remove the pump.

Installation



Insert the fuel pump with the plastic sleeve.

Screw the fuel lines to the accumulator, pump and filter using new gaskets.

Tighten the holder mounting bolts.

Caution: The plastic sleeve must protrude from both sides of the holder. Under no circumstances should the holder be placed directly on the fuel pump.


Place the fuel hose on the pump and secure with a clamp.

Connect the electrical wiring. In the assembly position, the connector terminals should be vertical.

Remove the clamp from the fuel supply hose.

Connect ground to the battery.

Start the engine and check the fuel line connections for leaks.

Screw on the protective cover.

Remove the vehicle from the stands.
