Troubleshooting window lifters (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210)

0
The electric windows are controlled by buttons on the center console regardless of the position of the key in the ignition. The fuses for the windows are located in the fuse box under the rear seat. If the car is equipped with four electric windows, the drive for the rear windows can be disabled by a single switch with a child symbol in the middle of the control unit on the center console.

Sequence of works

1. If the window lifts fail, first check the fuses under the rear seat.

2. If everything is OK, remove and check the switch.

3. If the switch is working properly, check the wire going to the door. To do this, remove the door trim, take out the connector and, with the switch pressed, check for voltage on the electric motor. The "plus" and "minus" on the wire have changing polarity depending on whether the glass is raised or lowered.

5. If the voltage is OK, then the possible cause is still a faulty electric motor. Replace it.

6. Difficulty in moving one of the glasses may be caused by jamming in the door guides.

7. If only the rear windows do not work, check the child safety switch.

8. If all options have been tried, the fault is related to the comfort system relay or the central locking system.
