Visual inspection of the gearbox for oil leaks (Mercedes-Benz C-Class W203)

0
Gearbox oil leaks may occur in the following places.
  • The joint between the cylinder block and the gearbox (rear crankshaft oil seal and gearbox shaft oil seal).
  • Oil level check screw.
  • Drain plug.
  • The cardan shaft is connected to the gearbox.

Search for leak locations as follows:

1. Diesel engine: Remove the engine bottom cover.

2. Clean the gearbox housing with cold cleaner.

3. Sprinkle potential leak areas with lime or talcum powder.

4. Drive the car. To make the oil liquid, drive on the highway for about 30 km.
