Self-diagnosis of the ignition and fuel injection system (Mercedes-Benz C-Class W202)

0
With HFM and PMS control systems, it is no longer necessary to regulate the engine idle speed and the carbon monoxide content. The system monitors itself and stores the detected faults in its memory. A Mercedes workshop can detect faults using a reading device and eliminate them in a targeted manner. A single fault is not necessarily noticeable due to a deterioration in the vehicle's driving characteristics. Therefore, it is advisable to visit a service workshop after the vehicle has traveled a certain distance.

The contents of the fault memory are retained even if the battery is disconnected. The faults stored in the memory are automatically erased if they no longer occur during approximately 20 consecutive trips. The faults stored in the memory can be manually erased using the fault reader.

When carrying out repair work on the fuel injection system, the rules for maintaining cleanliness in relation to the fuel system and the safety instructions in relation to the ignition system must be observed.
