Main and middle mufflers (Mercedes-Benz C-Class W202)

0
The middle and main mufflers are installed as a single unit at the factory. A faulty main muffler can be replaced separately.

If the middle muffler needs to be replaced, then with a non-detachable exhaust pipe installed, the main muffler must also be replaced. However, if the main muffler has already been replaced once, the middle muffler can be replaced separately.

1. Disassemble the exhaust system, starting with the middle muffler.

2. Place the new main muffler on top of the old system and mark the length of the pipes along the removed system.

3. Install the second system on the exhaust pipe approximately 80 mm from the marking in the direction of the main muffler.

4. Cut the outlet pipe at the second mark. Note: the length of the inserted part should be 70-80 mm.

5. Clean the exhaust pipe with sandpaper and fit the main muffler, having first pushed the pipe clamp onto the exhaust pipe.

6. Tighten the clamp bolt slightly without tightening it too tightly.

7. Install the exhaust system.

8. Align the main muffler horizontally and tighten the mounting bolt tightly.
