Generator fault diagnostics
CAUSE | REMEDY |
When the ignition is on, the battery charge indicator does not light
| The battery is discharged | Charge the battery. |
| The wires on the generator are loose or corroded | Check the wire contacts, tighten the bolt tightly. |
| The battery charge indicator has burned out | Replace the battery charge indicator. |
| The regulator is faulty | Check the regulator and replace it if necessary. |
| Break in wiring between generator, ignition switch, instruments and alarm | Check the wiring using a voltmeter according to the electrical circuit diagram. |
| The plug connections between the rectifier board and the tension regulator are not inserted | Remove the generator, insert the plug connectors if necessary. |
| Carbon brushes do not fit into slip rings | Check the carbon brushes for ease of movement and their minimum length (5 mm). |
| The excitation winding in the generator has burned out | Replace the rotor. |
The battery charge indicator does not go out when the engine speed increases
| The V-ribbed belt is loose | Tighten the V-ribbed belt. |
| The carbon brushes are worn out | Inspect the carbon brushes and replace them if necessary. |
| The regulator is faulty | Check the regulator and replace it if necessary. |
| The line between the alternator and the regulator is faulty | Check the line and contacts, replace the wiring section if necessary. |
Battery charge indicator lights up when ignition is off
| The positive diode is short-circuited | Check the diodes, replace the diode board if necessary. |
