In the event of a dead battery, the engine can be started using the auxiliary cables and the battery of another vehicle.
There is a risk of chemical burns!
Do not lean over the battery while starting with the booster battery.
There is a risk of explosion!
Do not work with open flame, do not smoke, avoid sparking near the battery.
Observe safety precautions when handling the battery (Chapter Checking and charging the battery).
The terminals for connecting the wire for starting the engine with an auxiliary battery are located in the engine compartment on the front passenger side in front of the bulkhead.
positive pole (+) is under a protective cover.
Do not attempt to start the engine if the battery is frozen. First, it must be defrosted.
Use auxiliary cables of sufficient cross-section with insulated pole clamps.
Cars must not touch.
Turn off all electrical consumers.
First connect the positive terminals with a cable.
The other vehicle's engine must be idling.
Connect the negative poles with the auxiliary cable.
Start the engine.
If the engine is running, turn on the electrical consumers, such as the fan, but not the lights!
Remove the cables first from the negative and then from the positive poles.
Starting with a booster battery is possible when the engine is cold and the catalytic converter is cold. However, repeated and lengthy starting attempts should be avoided.
It is not allowed to start the engine using a device for accelerated battery charging.
Charging the battery is discussed in Chapter Current service.
