Notes on carrying out work with salon equipment (Mercedes-Benz C-Class W203)

0
When working with the interior equipment of a vehicle, it is necessary to keep the following in mind:
  • To remove plastic trims and linings, it is recommended to use a plastic wedge, for example, HAZET 1965-20.
  • Any clamps damaged during removal of the trim must be replaced.
  • Seats, seat belts and airbags are important safety components of the vehicle. As a precaution, only perform the work described here yourself. More complex work should be performed at a service station.

Attention! If, as part of the bodywork, it is also necessary to carry out any work on electrical equipment, it is necessary to disconnect the negative cable (-) of the battery. To do this, you need to read Section Replacing the battery. Even disconnecting an electrical wire from any terminal should be considered as work with electrical equipment.

Be sure to observe safety precautions regarding the airbag, in particular when working on the instrument panel and the center console, refer to Section Safety precautions when working with an airbag.

To prevent the airbag from deploying, turn off the ignition before disconnecting the airbag system cables, and then disconnect the negative (-) and then the positive (+) battery cables. In addition, for safety reasons, insulate the negative battery terminal, refer to Section Safety precautions when working with an airbag.
