The battery is located on the right side under the trunk floor.
Important! Some serially installed car radios are coded. The anti-theft coding prevents unauthorised commissioning of the device if the power supply is interrupted. The power supply is interrupted, for example, when disconnecting the wires from the battery terminals, when removing the radio or if the radio fuse blows. If the radio is coded, note the radio code before disconnecting the wires from the battery terminals. If the code is unknown, only a Mercedes workshop can put the car radio back into operation.

Removal
1. The ignition key cannot be inserted.
Original published on the website: MercedesMan
2. Disconnect the wires from the battery terminals, first the wire (3) connecting the battery terminal (–) to the vehicle body, then the positive wire (4) (+), to do this, fold up the protective cover (6).
3. Remove the gas outlet pipe (5) from the battery.
4. Unscrew and remove the bolts (1) to the mounting plate (2) on the base of the battery. The 100 Ah battery has only one bolt.
5. Remove the battery.
Attention! Batteries contain harmful substances that should not be disposed of as household waste. When purchasing a new battery, return the old one to the seller or hand it over to special waste collection points.
Installation
1. Before installation, clean the battery terminals until they shine; a brass wire brush is suitable for this. To prevent corrosion, coat both terminals with anti-acid grease.
2. Install the battery, place it on the mounting plate and screw it tightly.
3. Place a pipe onto the battery to remove the gases that are released.
4. Connect the positive wire to the positive (+) terminal, then the negative (body) wire to the negative terminal.
Caution! Connect the wires to the battery only with the ignition off, otherwise the fuel injection system control unit may be damaged. Incorrect battery connection may cause significant damage to the generator and electrical system.
Attention! Pay attention to perfect connections to the car body and clean contacts. High contact resistance, especially during start-up, leads to overload of electronic control devices and may, in extreme cases, cause their failure.
5. Close the protective cover on the positive pole and fix it.
6. Set the time on the clock.
7. Enter the anti-theft code for the radio (see subsection 13.1.16.).
