The Mercedes C-Class can be equipped with a central lock. This is a device that is located in several places in the car and can be operated not only from the driver's door, but also from the co-driver's door, and with additional equipment also via infrared remote control. The central lock consists of a pneumatic control unit, supply lines and functional and control elements on the individual locks of the car. The pneumatic control unit is located on the right side in the luggage compartment. It supplies the central locking system with vacuum or high pressure, if necessary also the seat back (multi-contour back) and the diesel inlet pipe.

When the key is turned in the door or trunk lock, the pressure pump in the pneumatic control unit starts to rotate. Depending on the direction of the key in the lock, the pump rotates to the right or left, producing a vacuum or increased pressure. The pressure is transmitted through the hoses to individual functional elements, as a result of which individual locks are opened or locked.

Elements of the central lock

The elements of the central lock of the front and rear doors are hung directly on the door locks and screwed to them. There is no need to adjust the control rod.
